Romain McLean | Chief Creative Officer
Romain started her creative journey in the Print Academy at McKinley Tech High School in the District of Columbia. The graphic arts world interested her, but, she didn’t discover her passion until she took an advertising design course which was an intro into graphic design. She later got an opportunity to intern at the Bureau of Engraving (US money factory) where, at the age of 16, she learned Photoshop, Quark, Illustrator, and design protools before software went mainstream. Her passion led her to Florida A&M University in the mid 90s with her first iMac, 16bit Powerbook laptop and AOL disk in hand. This was right before the digital revolution, so most people had no idea what graphic design entailed, a far cry from today.
While at FAMU Romain grew her skills within the graphic design department and minored in printing. Back then, design majors had to learn everything from packaging design, publication design, logo and identity, exhibit design, early web development and the list goes on. Romain wanted to take things further so she moved to Atlanta to attend the Portfolio Center (now Miami Ad School) for graduate studies, concentrating in brand identity development. The Portfolio Center built a global reputation of graduating candidates with the best work ethics and portfolios in academia, hence the name. Its students, then and now, are recruited by some of the most distinguished branding and advertising agencies around the world. To Romain, the practice of brand identity development is an opportunity to get to the heart and soul of marketing. Even though Romain studied famous Designers and admired the leading branding firms, she decided to follow her own path by starting a design boutique, Wildfire Design; after working one year in Corporate America. Romain believed the only way she could have a creative, free path was through entrepreneurship. Wildfire operated for over a decade, serving businesses primarily doing work for Federal and Local Governments. After a discussion and an “A-HA” moment between Sheldon Jobe, her future business partner, Bizgoprint was born. Bizgoprint embodies all the triumphs, hard lessons learned, and creative journeys of two entrepreneurs ready to serve with a purpose. Sheldon and Romain deeply understand what entrepreneurs endure everyday. Bizgoprint is a solution oriented business aiming to help Clients grow and navigate the global marketplace. Bizgoprint aligns with Romain’s life purpose, bringing value to people’s lives through creative inspiration and better marketing practices.
